Welcome to the leadership blog at Jacobs Consulting & Executive Coaching. Thanks for stopping by!Welcome To Jacobs Consulting & Executive Coaching

Here I’ll share my thoughts, and the thoughts of others, on what I believe to be one of the most critical factors in organizational and business success: leadership.

I’m not talking about management, which is also critical to this success, but leadership. Real leadership. Leadership with a capital “L”.

It’s perhaps ironic that I didn’t truly begin to explore what leadership is and isn’t until I launched my first business, Jacobs Communications Consulting, in 2007, after more than 25 years in PR agency leadership and management. While I’d had my successful leadership moments over those years, I have to admit that I had more than my share of leadership failures. I can’t claim I was a consistent and evolved leader.

Welcome To Leadership

Perhaps we should take a moment and define leadership. Here’s how I see it: management is about process. Managing projects, managing budgets, managing timetables, managing accounts. All critically important. But not leadership.

Leadership is about one thing: people. Specifically, it’s leading your followers to achieve organizational goals. It always  gets down to people.

I’ve always believed that leaders are not defined by their fancy titles, cushy offices, or big salaries, but by this one thing: When they turn around, do they see inspired followers motivated to go pursue a common vision?

Is that what you see when you turn around?

If you’re not happy with what you see, please reach out. Let’s discuss how you can become the kind of leader you want to be.

I wrote an article about leadership a few years back. I believe it’s still relevant, and hope you find it valuable.

So welcome, and please share what you’d like to see covered in this blog.
